Remake that

Who can forget watching Mr Miyagi teach karate to the new-kid-on-the-block Daniel by making him wax-on/wax-off his car and catch flies mid air with chopsticks?

The Karate Kid
Who can forget watching Mr Miyagi teach karate to the new-kid-on-the-block Daniel by making him wax-on/wax-off his car and catch flies mid air with chopsticks? The 1984 martial underdog film was a super hit and is still a regular on most movie channels. While the remake doesn’t use the exact script, the plot is heavily inspired from the original with a few but major changes. For one,the film is based in China, the protagonist is Will Smith’s son Jaden and Mr Miyagi is replaced by Mr Jan,played by Jackie Chan. While we have nothing against the new cast, watching a very dear film go through this drastic transformation makes us slightly uncomfortable.

Alice in Wonderland
BBC produced a version of the movie in 1966 but the most popular one was the animated film by Walt Disney and several animated TV shows. So,finally getting a chance to watch Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter,Anne Hathaway as the White Queen and the relatively unknown Mia Wasikowska as Alice should be a treat. Directed by by Tim Burton, who has given us gems like Edward Scissorhands and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the film’s promos look promising. The magical moments in the film have been created using a combination of live action and motion capture and we really hope that using modern techniques to tell us a timeless tale will give us a delightful watch.

Robin Hood
For the good of all men and the love of one woman,he fought to uphold justice,by breaking the law.’ We’ve see the famous outlaw (played by Kevin Costner) in the 1991 film Robin Hood-Prince of Thieves, heard stories of the boy who stole from the rich and gave to the poor and watched animated versions on the telly. It’s now time for our favourite British outlaw to return to the theatre, look gorgeous (Russell Crowe) and bring justice to the world on horseback. Crowe apparently trained with a bow and arrow for four months for this flick. So,let’s hope the marksman and his merry men hit us on the right spot.

Nightmare on Elm Street
If Freddy Krueger strides into your dreams regularly, then this is a flick that you should probably miss. The famous slasher who kills teenagers in their dreams,is back and will now be played by Jackie Haley. The film aims to bring back the franchise of A Nightmare on Elm Street in a big way. Though there have been eight sequels the movie, the 2010 version is a remake of the original 1984 movie. The film promises to be gory and the poster looks disturbing, watch at your own risk.

My Fair Lady
My Fair Lady is a remake of the 1984 musical film about the transformation of the Cockney flower girl into the high society lady. Director of Shakespeare in Love,John Madden will direct the film and the cast is not yet finalised. The film is currently in its pre-production stages and will be produces by CBS films. Emma Thompson has written the screenplay, which is supposed to be based on the original stage musical and the George Bernard Shaw play Pygmalion.

Clash of the Titans
The trailers and posters have garnered great interest in this remake of the 1981 film,Clash of the Titans. Based on the myth of Perseus, the film has been directed by Louis Leterrier (director of The Incredible Hulk) and will have Sam Worthington play the lead. The original movie, based on the story of Perseus, who was born as God but raised as a man has cult followings throughout the world. The remake of the epic is obviously grander than the original and will have a lot more of expensive special effects. The film is scheduled to release on March 26.
