A movie highlights the menace of drug addiction in the Punjab countryside
Once a vibrant and prosperous countryside,rural Punjab now lives in dereliction,given the alarming increase in the number of drug addicts. This is the problem that Punjabi film director Harinder Gill and producer Iqbal Singh Dhillon are trying to highlight in their upcoming film Channa Sachi Muchi starring Pooja,Goldy Sumal and introducing Jass Dhillon. The film releases on August 20.
Channa Sachi Muchi is the story of the battle of a common man against drugs,along with a love saga,according to the promotional brochure. The story traces how drugs are supplied to Punjab,how it affects the the addicted and the families and aims to spread awareness, says Gill.
Channa Sachi Muchi is a story of a girl Sukh (played by Punjabi actor Pooja),and Dev (played by actor Goldy). Sukh trusts her brother Nishan Sandhu (played by Jass Dhillon) and thinks that her brother will never harm her. Dev and Sukh love each other. Nishan,who is a drug smuggler,marries Sukh away to a drug addict though she is saved in the end. The film has been shot at the Chandigarh Group of Colleges,Landran,Nawanshaher as well as JD Farms,Ambala and nearby locations.
