Thunderstorm and lightning activity is expected at isolated locations throughout the period.

IMD authorities have urged residents in red-alert areas to avoid non-essential travel during heavy rain. Stay indoors during thunderstorms and lightning, watch out for updates from local administration and weather agencies and ensure drainage channels around homes are clear, the residents have been further instructed.

Disaster management teams have been asked to remain on standby in flood-prone areas and district administrations directed to activate control rooms.

With monsoon gaining strength, this spell is seen as crucial for kharif sowing in the agrarian belts of Punjab and Haryana, though excess rainfall could lead to localised crop damage and disruption of daily life.
