Hectic campaigning was witnessed in all wards today with the candidates taking advantage of Sunday. From door-to-door campaigning to holding public meetings the candidates tried to encash on the holiday to meet as many people as possible.
Congress
Union Minister Pawan Bansal visited a large number of wards to seek votes for the candidates of the party.
A public rally was organised in Sector 40 by Chandigarh Territorial Youth Congress (CTYC) to seek votes for Gurbax Rawat. Justifying the hike in prices of petrol he said that it was due to high prices of crude oil. He also informed the gathering about benefits of introducing FDI in retail.
Accusing the BJP of stalling development,Bansal said that the party obstructs initiatives that Congress wants to take for betterment of the people.
Gurbax Rawat,meanwhile said that she should be voted to bring about development in the area.
Mukesh Bassi,candidate from ward 17 held door-to-door campaign in Sector 19 where he was accompanied by Munish Bansal,son of Union Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal. He shared his vision of creating more resident friendly community centers equipped with various facilities like libraries. He also assured better sanitation and cleanliness of service lanes.
Devinder Singh Babla,candidate from ward 18 visited the houses in electricity colony in Sector 28 and Sector 27. Babla assured the residents that the maintenance department of the govt houses will be brought under the MC.
Pawan Basal also inaugurated the election office of candidate from ward 22 Jatinder Bhatia who is the sitting councillor of the area. Addressing a gathering he said that over the past few years he has ensured better water supply,greenbelts and sanitation facilities for the residents. Raj Bala Malik,candidate from ward 1 visited the market and residential area in Sector 7.
BJP
Davesh Moudgil,a BJP-SAD candidate from ward 22 interacted with the voters seeking their votes. He assured them that he will leave no stone unturned to ensure development of all the areas. Senior BJP leader Satya Pal Jain asked residents to vote for Moudgil.
Jain also participated in the election campaign of Satyavan Shera,the candidate from ward 20. He appealed to the people to hit at the ruling party by voting against it and make their valuable contribution in saving the country from corruption and price rise.
Chandrawati Shukla,the candidate from ward 14 addressed a public meeting where the resident welfare association,Sector 45 extended support to her.
BJP District president Santosh Mishra inaugurated the election office of Anil Dubey,the candidate from ward 11. Dubey who is the sitting councillor from ward 24 had to shift his ward after his ward was reserved for a schedule caste candidate.
BJP State General Secretary and candidate from ward 18 Satinder Singh took out padyatra in Sector 30 and 27 along with local residents and party activists and appealed them to vote for development and prosperity. Sitting councillor of ward 16,Rajesh Gupta held several meetings with the residents of Sector 20.
BSP
Hafiz Anwar-Ul-Haq,convener BSP along with his wife and BSP candidate from ward 23 Jannat Jahaan conducted a pad yatra at village Faida today. They interacted with the 500 residents of the area.
Hafiz while addressing the residents said that Jannat Jahaan was the ideal candidate for this ward. She is educated and is very concerned for the condition of backward classes.
Sanjeev Babbar,candidate from ward 8 donated blood at a camp organised by Purvanchal Welfare Association at Purvanchal Bhawan,Sector 37.
He said that the association has assured him of support. Sanjeev Babbar conducted a door to door campaign at Madrasi colony,Tenament Colony in Sector 38,and in parts of 38 W and 37 C.
