With the twin objective of assessing its success at the endeavour and to give a chance to the benefited children to showcase their talent,an educational fete was held on the premises of Quark India in Mohali on Saturday.
Nek Chand, the creator of Rock Garden in Chandigarh, was the chief guest, while educationists D Ashok and Madhu Chitkara and Satnam Singh Sandhu were guests of honour.
The participating students were ones who have benefited from more than 100 computers donated by Quark to various underprivileged institutes. By ensuring their computer literacy,Quark aims to make them capable of choosing a bright future for themselves.
Addressing those present on the occasion,Sofi Zahoor,Director HR India Operations,Quark, said,It is very exciting to help harness such a huge amount of raw talent and intelligence which could be lost if not backed with enough opportunities. Their creative thoughts show that they do not need help but just that little bit of encouragement and the right avenues to explore. For our volunteers, personally,it has been an overwhelming and a humbling experience.
The day saw the shortlisted candidates give powerpoint presentations reflecting their thoughts and opinions creatively through the use of computers. In a competition, three of them were also given prizes.
Students presented a cultural programme along with fun games and quiz. The day ended with a prize distribution ceremony for the winning students as well as their faculty.
