A students leader and two hostel residents are in the dock for violating the visiting hours deadline at a Panjab University girls hostel. On Saturday night,president of Panjab University Students Union (PUSU) Uday Singh Wirring was spotted inside the girls hostel-6,at Sarojini Extension,at 11.30 pm. He was seen talking to two residents and handing them something.
An inquiry has ordered and a report has been sought from the hostel warden. It was noted that a guard and a woman attendant,who were on duty,did not stop Wirring from entering the hostel that night.I went to give a few important things to my cousin who is a resident of the hostel. I did not barge into the hostel,but had asked the security guard to hand over the things to my cousin. He said he was not authorised to do so. In the meantime my cousin came out of the hostel with a friend. I handed over the things and returned, said Wirring.
The visitor and the girls were identified by a few girls who were supporters of PUSUs rival group and alerted the hostel warden and the dean students welfare. We noticed that an outsider has entered the hostel around 11.30 pm. Two residents met him and they were handed over something. We informed the warden and the dean, said one of the supporters of SOPU party. According to the hostel rules,residents are not allowed to step out of the hostel after 9.30 pm,unless permitted under special circumstances. The Dean,Students Welfare,Prof Naval Kishore said an inquiry had been ordered and warden,Prof Neena Capalash,has been asked to submit the report.
