A seventy-five year old Krishan Kumar Gupta lost his life when he intervened to stop a fight,which started after his car collided with another car,at Madhya Marg,near grain market at 6 pm on Saturday.
According to a police personnel Krishan Kumar Gupta along with his grandson Bhupesh and other family members were driving at Madhya Marg,near grain market,when his car collided with another car. The two parties engaged in a heated argument which later turned violent.
The members of another family started beating Bhupesh. When Krishan Kumar Gupta intervened to stop the fight,a lady from another party pushed him aside. He fell and died on the spot. The police reached the spot within minutes and took the deceased to the GMSH-16,where he was declared brought dead. The body has been sent for post-mortem. The another party fled from the spot and the police is in the process of filing the case against the accused.
An FIR under Section 304 of Indian Penal Code (IPC),culpable homicide not amounting to murder,has been registered by the Chandigarh Police.
