Punjab Transport Minister Ajit Singh Kohar humiliated junior engineer into depression

The council of junior engineers Kapurthala on Tuesday alleged that a colleague of their went into depression after a meeting with transport minister Ajit Singh Kohar the previous day.

Council president Gurnam Singh Bajwa said Junior Engineer (JE) of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) Davinder Singh was humiliated in front of around 40 of his colleagues and farmers of the area over tubewell connections. When he fainted from the humiliation, he was admitted to the Nakodar Civil Hospital, he said.

Dr Tarun Bir Singh, medical officer, told that the patient was suffering from depression.

When contacted, Kohar denied the allegations and said Davinder could have been admitted due to some other reason.

Punjab government had promised 1.50 lakh tubewell connections across state ahead of 2017 elections. JEs, SDOs and Executive Engineer were called for a meeting pertaining to providing such connections. ENS
