Punjab MP Vikramjit Sahney expresses concern over straining India-Canada ties to Minister Jaishankar

Minister Jaishankar assured that India can consider resuming visa services in Canada as soon as Canadian government ensures full security to Indian diplomats.

Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney Saturday met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and expressed his concerns over the deteriorating India-Canada relations.

While handing over a memorandum to the Union Minister, the MP from Punjab that has a sizeable population living in Canada, Sahney said that it was really painful to witness the straining diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Sahney stated that the best way to redress the grievances is positive and constructive dialogue.

He further added that any measure to close visa facilities in Canada or reducing the visa facilities in India to visit Canada will cause a lot of hardships to the kith and kin of millions of Indian families and students residing in Canada. “We can’t make common citizens of both countries to suffer owing certain fringe elements,” Sahney said.

Dr. Jaishankar assured that India can consider resuming the visa services in Canada as soon as Canadian government ensures full security to the Indian diplomats.
