Red alert in Amritsar, Bathinda; 3 of a family injured in Ferozepur, drone sightings, blasts keep Punjab border districts awake
Houses damaged and three of a family injured in Ferozepur; blackouts, market shutdowns enforced across districts

MULTIPLE DRONE sightings and explosions were reported across Punjab’s border districts including Ferozepur, Amritsar, Pathankot, and Tarn Taran. In Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur, people reported hearing explosion-like sounds.
At least three drones were reported to have fallen in residential areas in Ferozepur damaging several houses, and three persons sustaining burn injuries, one being critical now.
Red alerts were issued in Amritsar and Bathinda Saturday morning. All residents have been requested to stay inside their buildings and take self protection measures.

In Ferozepur too, Deputy Commissioner Deepsikha Sharma appealed to the residents to stay inside their homes. “Sirens are about to start sounding. Please wait for the green signal from the administration,” she said this morning.
The state continued to enforce blackouts in most districts, with administrations shutting down markets and restaurants between 7 pm and 8 pm.
On Friday, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann directed his ministers to camp in border districts, and government employees have been instructed to remain stationed at their respective postings.
In Ferozepur, one of the drones fell on the house of a local businessman, Shivam Grover. Amritpal Singh, his neighbour, said, “Fortunately, Grover and his family have relocated to another part of the city.” In Khai Femeke village near the cantonment, a drone reportedly caused a car to catch fire.
SSP Ferozepur Bhupinder Singh said three members of a family were injured and admitted to a hospital. One of them is critical.
Residents in Amritsar reported hearing loud blasts and seeing a swarm of drones near the airport and Chheharta, a place close to the cantonment. In Lopoke town near the international border, locals also reported seeing drone-like flashes in the night sky.
A blast was reported from the Air Force Station in Bathinda late Friday night. “Further details are awaited,” said SSP Bathinda Amneet Kondal.
Jalandhar district saw at least eight explosions around 1:40 am in the villages of Kangniwal and Mahaddipur. The blasts damaged several vehicles and caused cracks in a few houses. One person sleeping on a rooftop in Kangniwal was injured and admitted to the hospital.
In Tarn Taran, Deputy Commissioner Rahul described the blast-like sound as “thwarting of drone attacks.” “No injuries reported to us yet.”
Intense drone activity was also reported in Pathankot, where residents reported hearing explosions late into the night, and early morning. In Hoshiarpur’s Mukerian subdivision, residents of Unchi Bassi reported nearly a dozen blasts accompanied by sharp laser lights in the sky.
