Despite the rain playing spoilsport for the last couple of days and hampering with the proceedings of the tournament,the players finally got back into action in the CLTA-AITA Championship Series tennis tournament at the CLTA court on Wednesday. Prinkle Singh,Paramveer Bajwa,Param Pun and Sumit Pal Singh looked in ominous form and stormed into the quarter-finals in their respective categories.
Prinkle,playing against Simran Wadhwa in the girl’s Under-18 category,lost her rhythm in between but managed to stick to her basic game and win her second round match to enter the quarter-finals. In the girl’s Under-14 category,Prinkle Singh outplayed Priyangna Seth 8-2,to make it to the quarters. Paramveer Bajwa looked in smashing form as he made short work of Rohit Kumar and easily defeated him 8-2 in the boy’s Under-14 category. Similarly,Param Pun outplayed Karandeep Singh 8-4 to reach the next round and Sumitpal Singh humbled Kabir Manrai 8-1.
In the boy’s Under-18 first round matches,Param Pun got the better of Kunal R.Vajirani 8-3 while Paramveer Bajwa breezed past Aditya Puskar Singh 8-1.
