Pre-poll reshuffle in Chandigarh: Haryana officer moved from Excise Department after month and half

Corporation Chandigarh. (Credit: haryana.nic)In a reshuffle, the Chandigarh administration removed a Haryana Civil Service officer from the Additional Excise and Taxation Commissioner post, merely a month and a half after assigning him the charge. The change comes
in the runup to the Lok Sabha polls.
The latest orders reassign his responsibilities to a Punjab Civil Service Officer Harsuhinder Pal Singh Brar.
It was on January 26 that HCS officer Pradhuman Singh took over the Additional Excise and Taxation Commissioner role, replacing IAS officer Rupesh Kumar.
Kumar’s removal followed his stringent actions against liquor contractors, including the sealing of establishments and suspension of licenses for ten major liquor vends. His crackdown on illegal liquor sales during his five-month tenure garnered attention, with over 30 cases recorded under his watch.
Sources said that Pradhuman Singh had been moved out as he had already completed three years in the UT, though his stint as the Additional Excise and Taxation Commissioner lasted only a month and a half.
Meanwhile, HPS Brar, the newly appointed Punjab officer, concurrently holds the position of Director School Education, expanding his administrative portfolio.

Additionally, DANICS officer Naveen was moved out from the position of SDM South, which will now be held by Khushpreet Kaur, another DANICS officer. Naveen will now take charge as Joint Director Admin at GMCH.
Amidst these changes, Pradhuman Singh retains his roles as Joint Secretary of Transport and Registering and Licensing Authority Chandigarh.
