They traded tradition for fun as Shamita Shetty and Kiran Bawa hosted the grand baby shower for the formers elder sister,actor Shilpa Shetty. Unlike a typical Indian godh bharai ceremony,the guests came visiting over high tea and champagne on Thursday afternoon.
The girl gang Malaika Arora Khan and sister Amrita Arora,designers Nandita Mahtani and Surily Goel,Gauri Khan,Susanne Roshan,Maanayata Dutt,Namrata Dutt,Mana Shetty,Seema Khan,Maheep Kapoor,Neha Dhupia and Sameera Reddy,to name a few turned up in dresses and Western casuals. The expectant mother,in her ninth month,wore a peach kaftan designed by Mahtani. The surprise attendees,however,were Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan,who took time out from baby-sitting Aaradhya,and Shettys one time rival,Raveena Tandon Thadani.
Guests returned from the pink-and-blue-themed party with gift hampers that comprised crystal pacifiers and other goodies. On offer was a buffet of continental cuisine and traditional sweets were replaced with cupcakes and a diaper-shaped cake. Shettys mother,Sunanda,and husband Raj Kundra were also present.
