Poor students do well in CBSE exams

It is indeed a moment of contentment for volunteer teachers and a reason to celebrate for underprivileged students of Theatre Age whose results were declared here today.

In CBSE results declared for classes I to IX and XI (commerce and medical streams) here today,the students of Theatre Age have achieved 100 per cent result.

Of the nearly 20 slum students who appeared in school exams,most of them got B and C grades,with some also fetching A+ grade.

Theatre Age is a city-based NGO focusing on the upliftment of underprivileged children. Many of the children are school dropouts or the ones who cannot afford school expenses.

Children are being taught through non-conventional methods like theatre,etc. apart from regular syllabus.

“All students did well based on what would normally be expected from children living in slums in terms of academic achievement,” said Theatre Age President Zulfiqar Khan.

These students’ entire professional paths have been drastically improved and their opportunity to attend college is far more certain now. We are extremely proud of our children’s work. This academic success is truly unprecedented for children living in such conditions,” he added.
