Just 3 in series cross Rs 1 lakh mark; RLA earns revenue of Rs 12.94 lakh
The auction of the series CH01 AF by the Registering and Licensing Authority witnessed the number 0001 being auctioned for Rs 70,000,one of the lowest prices that the number has fetched since the system of auctioning numbers was started. The auction generated poor response with a total of 34 of the series finding takers.
The auction earned RLA an amount of Rs 12.94 lakh.
Just three in the series crossed the Rs 1 lakh mark. These included CH01 AF 9999,which fetched the highest amount in the auction after being auctioned for Rs 1.55 lakh.
The number 0003 was auctioned for Rs 1.5 lakh while the number 0007 fetched Rs 1.1 lakh.
The other single-digit numbers did not fetch a very high revenue. In fact, there were no takers for 0006 and 0008. The numbers 0002 and 0009 fetched Rs 90,000 each while the number 0004 was auctioned for Rs 70,000. The other numbers that were auctioned were close to the reserve price.
The number 0015 found a taker in former MP and BJP Legal and Legislative Cell national In-Charge Satya Pal Jain who bought the number for Rs 20,000 for his newly acquired Ambassador. The number 15 is Jains birth date.
The system of auctioning the numbers was started keeping in view the demand for particular numbers. Before the start of a series, car owners are given time to book the number they want. In case, there is more than one taker for the same number, bidding is held.
The last auction was held by the RLA in November. Generally,a series lasts for around two and a half months. However, this time the series ended in a little more than a month.
