Police foiled a robbery bid and arrested five gangsters late Monday night. According to police,a special police team headed by Sub Inspector (SI) Lakhmi Chand of CIA staff supervised a raid to arrest the accused,carried out after a tip-off.
SI Lakshmi Chand,along with his staff,was on night patrol near Chowki village,where he got information that six boys were conspiring and preparing for dacoity near the village and were loaded with iron rods and sticks.
Acting immediately,raids were carried out and police managed to apprehend five accused,whereas one of the accused succeeded to escape.
The accused were identified as Irshad of Bhartpur vilage in Uttar Pardesh,Asfak Ali of Chaterpur village,Mithlesh alias Bhoot of Bihar,Rajesh alias Raju of Jadwar and Tofiq alias Babloo of Chaterpur village.
The case against the accused was registered under Sections 399 and 402 IPC at Chandimandir police station.
During interrogation,the accused confessed to commiting the crime. Police said they were also wanted in the theft case registered at Sector-5 police station. Further investigation is under way.
