PAU Ludhiana is highest ranked state agri varsity in the country

The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, secured the highest rank among the state agricultural universities in the country, as per the National Institutional Rankings Framework (NIRF), 2023, released by the union education ministry, Monday.

The Ludhiana-based varsity has been ranked third in the country in agriculture and allied sectors educational institutes, with Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Delhi at number one and ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute at number two. PAU is the highest ranked state agricultural university in this category at number three. Overall, PAU has secured 74th rank among top 100 institutes in the country.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Dr SS Gosal, vice-chancellor, PAU, said that it was a matter of pride for Punjab that PAU has secured the top rank among 63 state agricultural universities in the country. “There are 63 state agricultural universities in the country and PAU has been ranked first among them. We are third in the agriculture category after IARI and ICAR which are national institutes. Among state agricultural universities, we are at the top,” said Dr Gosal.
