Passenger train derailed; all safe

A major tragedy was averted at the Jalandhar railway station on Tuesday when the four coaches of Tata Muri Express was derailed while entering the platform around noon. The train was going towards Amritsar. The cause of derailment was the ongoing work on ‘route relay interlocking’,said Station Superintendent Ashok Kumar. While four coaches were derailed,all passengers are safe. A relief train arrived around 3 pm and the passengers were taken to Amritsar. The derailment affected the traffic on ‘up’ line and efforts to clear the track were on till evening.
