Pardeep Singh Negi (4.5 points) (Chitkara Engineering College,Rajpura) and Simranjeet Kaur (4 points) (Saupin’s School,Sector 32) bagged first and second position respectively,on the concluding day of the Under-25 Chandigarh chess championship 2010 held at St.Xavier’s School Sector 44-C,Chandigarh. The duo also booked their berth in the team that will represent Chandigarh in the upcoming Nationals Under-25 Chess Championship to be held in Chandigarh in October.

Gaurav fashions Godrej & Boyce XI triumph
A splendid half century by Gaurav Tandon (65 no) enabled Godrej & Boyce XI to defeat Dell XI in a league match organised by the Chandigarh Sports Club at Tau Devi Lal Cricket Stadium,Sector 3,Panchkula,today.Batting first,Godrej team got off to a fine start with the openers putting up a partnership of 54 runs. After fall of two wickets Gaurav Tandon partnered with Lakhan Shandil to take the innings forward. With Gaurab Tandon contributing unbeaten 65 runs,Godrej & Boyce XI piled up 167 runs in their 20 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. In reply. Dell XI could muster only 131 runs in their 20 overs.In the second match of the day,Talwar XI led by a flamboyant half century by opener Shiva (59 off 29),defeated Kay Bee Warehousing Ltd. by seven wickets. In the third match of the day,Deep Engg XI beat HDFC Bank XI.
