Panchkula police rescue abducted youth

Soon after a 21-year-old youth was kidnapped on Saturday,the Panchkula police claimed to have rescued him from Devinagar village late in the night. Nipul Gupta,a resident of Sector 7,was allegedly kidnapped from Sector 5 in the evening. Son of a Dera Bassi-based industrialist,Anil Gupta,Nipul reportedly got a call from a friend to reach the Waah Dilli hotel in Sector 5 at 4:30 pm. When he reached there,sources said,the slightly mentally challenged youth was abducted. Later,the kidnappers called up his father and demanded Rs 80 lakh as ransom. “Around 6:30 pm the family got a ransom call,” Panchkula SP Maneesh Chaudhary said. “Subsequently,following a tip-off,the police rescued the youth but the kidnappers managed to escape.” A police officer,however,said the hideout of kidnappers was raided on the basis of mobile tower locations.
