One strangled to death for dowry

A woman was strangulated to death allegedly by her husband and in-laws at Jastana Khurd village near Lalru late last evening,the police said today. Meena Devi,in her mid-20s,was married to Jaswant Singh of Jastana Khurd village two years ago and had a one-and-a-half-year-old son.

Meena’s brother Kiranpal Singh of Yamunanagar in Haryana reported to the police that on Tuesday,he got a call from Jaswant,telling him that Meena had suffered a cardiac arrest. “When I reached their place,I saw strangulation marks on Meena’s neck,” he alleged.Singh further alleged that ever since Meena was married,her husband and in-laws were subjecting her to cruelty and harassment and were demanding more dowry.
