Teaching music to toddlers for eight years now,city-based brothers Paulus and Ondry thought of coming up with a music CD for children. We wanted to do something that was educational, catchy and also brought in different genres of music, says one of them. On Friday, the duo launched their debut music album Songs for Children at Mount Carmel School,Sector 47. With a line-up of 15 songs targeted at three to eight-year-olds,the CD is a blend of rock, hip hop,pop and jazz. The icing on the cake is that the CD also aims to improve their pronunciation and add to their general knowledge. The album has modern version of old numbers such as Five Hundred Mile,My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean and lullaby,Hush Little Baby. We have also tried to educate children about our rich eco-system and healthy eating habits through some of the songs on plants, animals and gardens, says Paulus. While the songs have been sung by different singers, the CD has been produced by Sandip Bhattacharjee, who has also given the music for the album along with his brother. The album is soon expected to be a part of the school curriculum, says Paulus, who is also ready to release animated videos to go with the songs.
