Talks reach concensus, ‘whistleblower Jhota’ to be released in a week
Following his arrest, the SKM had also extended their support and since then the pakka dharna was started.

After another round of talks between Nasha Virodhi Sanjha Action Committee (NVSAC) and state government officials in Mansa district administrative complex on Tuesday, it was decided that ‘whistleblower’ Parwinder Singh will be released.
Protesters said after after this release, they will decide on lifting the pakka dharna that is going on at the complex since July 16.
Parminder Singh, who earned the nickname “Jhota” (The Bull) on social media, gained popularity in the recent months for his self-styled campaign against alleged drug smugglers, particularly targeting medical store owners in Mansa and surrounding areas. He accused them of illegally selling drugs to the youth.
However, Jhota is now facing allegations of taking the law into his own hands and extorting money under the guise of his campaign. As a recovering addict himself, Parminder Singh is under scrutiny from the Punjab police.
Dhana Mal Goyal, president of medical practitioners association and coordinator of NVSAC, said that a consensus on Jhota’s relased was reached on releasing Jhota, who is behind bars since July 15.
“The cancellation process of attempt to murder FIR registered against him has started and we expect him to be released within a week, and following that we will decide what to do next,” he said.
Though NVSAC had demanded Jhota’s unconditional release, however, bail had to be applied in the incident of garlanding a chemist.
Following his arrest, the SKM had also extended their support and since then the pakka dharna was started.
