No seeded players in men’s semis

On Wednesday,during the men's semi-final encounters,there won't be any seeded player who will stake his claim for the title,as seeded players fell in what was a day of major upset in the HTA-AITA Rs 1.5 lakh prize money tennis tournament being held at Harvest Tennis Academy in Jassowal,Ludhiana,on Tuesday.

On Wednesday,during the men’s semi-final encounters,there won’t be any seeded player who will stake his claim for the title,as seeded players fell in what was a day of major upset in the HTA-AITA Rs 1.5 lakh prize money tennis tournament being held at Harvest Tennis Academy in Jassowal,Ludhiana,on Tuesday.

Second seed Yash Deshpande,third seed Siddhesh Khade and fourth seed Bharat Bhardwaj,were all shown the exit door by the lesser ranked opponents who had the desire which these fancied players found hard to counter. Top seed Arpit Sharma,fifth seed Keneisezot Whourie,sixth seed Anubhav Chaudhary,seventh seed Nishant Ankar Rebello,eighth seed Sameep Maheta had already bowed out of the tournament in the second round.

Yash Deshpande,the second seed from Maharashtra who was expected to win the title after the ouster of top seed Arpit Sharma,but was made to bite the dust by Rakshit Rishi as he lost 6-2,5-7,6-4. Yash started on a false start and lost the first set 6-2 but he made a promising return in the second set and he made full use of this and claimed the set 7-5. However,Rishi toppled him when qualifier won the final set 6-4.

Third seed Siddhesh Khade of Maharashtra lost to Ajay Yadav,5-7,6-3,6-0,in the quarter-final encounter,while fourth seed Bharat Bhardwaj of Haryana went down fighting to Deepinder Bains,2-6,7-5,6-4.

Also,there were few disappointments in the women’s quarter-final encounters too. Sanya Madan,the top seed who had got bye into the second round,was beaten comprehensively by Rajbir Kaur who recorded an easy 6-0,6-1 victory. Sixth seed Kirandeep Kotade of Gujarat also lost her quarter-final match to Pooja Mourya of Punjab,4-6,6-4,6-2.

The other seeded players won their respective matches.
