No action against PGGC-11 yet for laxity at exam centre

Despite the fact that a flying squad member had submitted a report mentioning lack of fool-proof arrangements at the examination centres at the Post Graduate Government College,Sector 11,the Panjab University (PU) authorities failed to take any action against the college.

Despite the fact that a flying squad member had submitted a report mentioning lack of fool-proof arrangements at the examination centres at the Post Graduate Government College,Sector 11,the Panjab University (PU) authorities failed to take any action against the college.

Even on April 2,a team of Newsline had found that all the washrooms of the college were choked with micro-slips of answers and photocopies of chapters. However, the same situation prevailed on the second day as well.

On April 3,a fellow of the varsity and principal of the Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital,Sector 26,K K Dhiman visited the four examination centers of the college as a member of the flying squad and found that no frisking of students was done. All the bags and mobile phones were lying inside the examination rooms. Following this,he tried to contact the principal coordinator of the examination centers, principal J S Raghu, but he failed to reply.

After this,Dhiman had on April 5 submitted a written report to the office of the Controller of Examination, but to no effect.

Talking to Newline,Dhiman said,“They have done nothing. I had submitted the report mentioning what all I saw in the college. During my visit I found that all the books, mobile phones were lying inside the centres. No frisking of students was done and I tried to contact the principal,in fact sent messages, but to no avail.”

Controller of Examination,Dr Parvinder Singh, said,“As soon as I got the report,I contacted the principal and asked him to be vigilant enough.”

“A principal coordinator gets a lump some amount of around Rs 4,000 per examination centre. If he is not performing his duties then varsity authorities should take action and that coordinator should be held responsible for his mistake and non-availability in the college,” said one of the Senate members, requesting anonymity.
