Chandigarh College of Architecture secures the 30th position among the top 100 technical colleges of India

Government Home Science College at Sector 10 and SD College at Sector 32 have been ranked among the top 100 colleges in India in the NIRF Rankings issued by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, for 2025.

Also, the Chandigarh College of Architecture has secured the 30th position among the top 100 technical colleges of India in the NIRF Rankings, and several technical institutions have achieved NBA accreditation.

It was informed during a review meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary, UT Chandigarh, H Rajesh Prasad, on Friday to assess the performance and progress of major projects and reforms in government and aided colleges, as well as higher and technical education institutions in Chandigarh.

The meeting, also attended by Prerna Puri, Secretary of Education; Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director of Higher Education, and other senior officers, gave a comprehensive overview of the status of higher and technical education in Chandigarh.

The presentation also covered the online admission process supporting the Digital India vision, and matters related to contractual faculty, pay and service conditions, faculty recruitment, and autonomous college status were also reviewed.

Prasad appreciated the department’s efforts in implementing NEP-2020 and modernising educational infrastructure.

He, however, directed the early resolution of service-related cases and expeditious implementation of the UGC 2018 regulations after obtaining inter-departmental concurrence.

The Chief Secretary was apprised of the impressive learning outcomes in technical institutions, reflected through strong performance indicators such as admissions, results and placements.

The Department of Technical Education highlighted the launch of new-age courses such as geo-informatics assistant, drone technician and solar panel installer. It was highlighted that Chandigarh’s Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) stands at 64.8%, the highest in the country, against the National Education Policy 2020 target of 50% by 2035. The Gender Parity Index (GPI) of 1.33 further indicates that more girls are pursuing higher education in Chandigarh.

Prasad also suggested exploring the option of establishing a skill university or a Centre of Excellence in Sa rangpur to further strengthen the education ecosystem in Chandigarh.
