According to the Ukrainian President, the main focus of the talks was on negotiations to end the war and on security guarantees.

“Peace must become truly durable. The war must end as soon as possible. Much now depends on the involvement of every leader,” Zelenskyy said in a post on X, adding that “We will also be speaking with other leaders today.”

Zelenskyy’s meeting with Macron, one of the most vocal international supporters of Ukraine, came a day after a high-level delegation from his country met US representatives in Florida in an effort to advance the peace talks.

US President Donald Trump had initially proposed a 28-point plan to end the Russia-Ukraine war. However, it was criticised for being heavily in favour of Russia. Last week, following several meetings between US, Ukrainian, and European officials, it was revised into a 19-point plan.
