NIPER: Students protest over prof’s sacking

Students of the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research blocked the gates of the institute soon after a professor was sacked by the director of the institute on Thursday.

Students of the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) blocked the gates of the institute soon after a professor was sacked by the director of the institute on Thursday. Sources said the professor had filed some writ petitions against the director,Professor K K Bhutani,in the Punjab and Haryana High Court along with two other colleagues. Dr Parikshit Bansal,head of the intellectual property rights department,was given an order,citing “grave misconduct in duties” for terminating his services from March 31. The two others are Dr Nilanjan Roy of Biotechnology Department,whose services were terminated about a year back,and Dr Neeeraj Kumar,an assistant professor of pharmaceutics department,who was served notice on March 22.
