Nayagaon taxi driver missing since Friday night; car driven by unknown man spotted at multiple toll plazas
According to family members, he last spoke to them at around 10 pm on Friday, informing them that he had picked up a passenger from the Kharar area

A taxi driver from Nayagaon in Mohali has been missing since late Friday evening. The family has lodged a complaint at the Nayagaon police station.
The missing driver has been identified as Anil (32), a resident of Nayagaon. Anil is married and is father of one son. According to family members, he last spoke to them at around 10 pm on Friday, informing them that he had picked up a passenger from the Kharar area and was heading towards Chandigarh Railway Station. He mentioned that it was his last booking of the day and that he would come straight home for dinner afterward. However, after that call, the family lost all contact and his phone has remained switched off ever since.
When the family began tracing his whereabouts, they discovered that his car crossed the Chandigarh-Kurali Road toll plaza at 11:45 pm on Friday. On checking the CCTV footage, they were shocked to see that the car was not being driven by Rahul. Instead, an unknown man, with his face covered in a black cloth, was driving the car, while another unidentified person was seated beside him.
Family members said further investigation revealed that the car crossed another toll plaza on the Ropar route around 12:03 am, and was later spotted at Behram toll plaza at about 1:02 am. Local residents informed the family that normally the journey from Kurali toll to Behram toll takes 40–45 minutes. However, the vehicle took nearly an hour, raising suspicion that the car was stopped midway.
The family suspects foul play, fearing that Anil may have met with an untoward incident. They have filed a complaint and appealed to the police for urgent action to trace both the missing driver and the vehicle’s suspicious occupants.
