Nayab Singh Saini is likely to take oath as Haryana chief minister in Panchkula on October 15. Though the state government has issued an official letter mentioning the date and venue of the event, a close aide of Saini told The Indian Express that they are still awaiting confirmation on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s availability.

On its part, the Haryana government has formed a 10-member committee of officers under the chairmanship of the Panchkula deputy commissioner to oversee the arrangements of the swearing-in ceremony. In an official order issued on Thursday, Chief Secretary T V S N Prasad said that the additional deputy commissioner and municipal commissioner of Panchkula will also be members of the committee.

As the BJP had contested the Assembly elections projecting incumbent chief minister Saini as the CM face, it is most likely that he would head the new government too. A close associate of Saini said that a few ministers will also take oath along with the chief minister. He also said that apart from Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states will also participate in the event.
