Navsankalp helps poor kids get medical treatment

“His father passed away when he was just six months old.

“His father passed away when he was just six months old. Due to medical complications,he has to be put on a constant supply of oxygen. It’s been five years since we started coming to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) from Sirsa for his treatment,” said Sunita,the mother of 13-year-old Mannan,who received a donation of Rs 10,000 on Monday for part of his treatment from Navsankalp,a charitable association of DAV College,Sector 10.

In its seventh donation program,Navsankalp donated Rs 10,000 to Mannan,who is diagnosed with post tuberculous bronchiectasis and requires an oxygen concentrator.

In another case,the organisation donated Rs 34,000 to eight-year-old Rahul,who is diagnosed with coarctation of the aorta and is also receiving treatment from PGIMER. His father,a daily wager from Haridwar cannot afford the money for his treatment.

“The X-ray showed that his wind-pipe got damaged and requires a surgery. I am a labourer,I can not afford such a huge amount for the surgery which led to delay in the treatment,” said Rang Pal,father of Rahul. The donations were made by the members of Navsankalp,accompanied by Dr H R Gandha,Advisor,President of DAV College Managing Committee and Dr B C Josan,the college principal.

The organisation which aims to save many more such precious lives of needy children and make people aware of their social responsibility,has already helped 21 children since the start of the session. Funds for the donations were collected through the mega charity event – Sparkles – which was organised on February 19,and turned out to be a success.

“We collect money by organizing events like Sparkles and also visit markets wherein we request people to donate money,” said Ishali Negi,one of the members of Navsankalp.
