The kids break into an effortless dance as the beats of the foot-tapping Bijuriya fill the small room at the premises of the NGO Theatre Age. Ajay Jhingran, the lyricist of that particular song joins in,effortlessly moving on to Biloo Bhayankar from the movie Billu Barber. Jhingran who has composed lyrics for more than 25 albums, including Page 3,Rakt,Oops,Dreams,Phir Kabhi and also sung in his earthy voice in movies like Khoya Khoya Chaand and Hazaron Khwahishen Aisi, was here,as brand ambassador,to express his support for the work that Theatre Age and its founder Zulfikar Khan was doing.
The training in theatre,Jhingran points out, reflects in both his lyrics and voice, for he believes art has to touch people and make a difference to their lives. Poetry with aesthetics and deep reflection is my aim,as art must have a greater purpose than commercial interests, he says.
