The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued notices to Haryana government, and also the Superintendent of Police (SP) and SHO of Palwal on a petition filed by Mahavir,a resident of the township.
Mahavir has demanded a CBI inquiry into the murder of his nephew Neeraj last month. Mahavir alleged in his complaint that Neeraj was murdered in broad daylight on March 30 by District Congress chief Harinder Pal,and his associates Ravinder and Prithvi.
Mahavir further alleged that his nephew was murdered because he had contested the municipal elections against Harinder Singhs relative. He alleged that Harinders family nurtured a grudge against Neeraj, and murdered him at his residence.
As per the FIR,Neeraj was sitting with his family members on the verandah of his residence when Harinder and his associates came in a car and opened fire at him. Neeraj was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead. An FIR was registered on March 31 by Haryana Police.
Mahavir has alleged that though the FIR was registered, the guilty have not been arrested due to political pressure. The petitioner has alleged that Harinder is very close to the Haryana chief minister and has influenced the Police. The petitioner has demanded an independent investigation into the case, and action against the police officers for not taking action against the guilty persons.
