Locals as well as tourists woke up to a white Shimla again with the town receiving more snowfall on Monday. With the minimum temperature dropping to minus 2.9 degrees Celsius the seasons lowest parts of Shimla went without newspapers and milk. Vehicular movement was affected during the day due to a thick blanket of snow, which was recorded at 24.6 cm.
There was some disruption of traffic after a fresh spell of snow during the day. We are trying to keep the roads open and have mobilised a lot of machinery and manpower to clear the roads. It has been years since Shimla celebrated snowfall like this, said Shimla Deputy Commissioner Onkar Sharma.
