The body of a ten-year-old boy,who was missing since October 28,was recovered from a tube well in Budhanpur village of Panchkula on Monday.
The police have registered a case against the contractor for causing death due to negligence.
Police said Golu Ram,son of a migrant labour and a resident of Mauli Jagran, left his home on October 28 to play with his friends. A missing complaint was lodged by the family with the Panchkula Police.
The residents alleged that the tube well dug by a contractor was left uncovered and that was the reason that Golu fell into it.
The family also complained that the neither the Chandigarh Police nor the Panchkula Police took the complaint about their missing son seriously.
The police from Chandigarh told us that it was not their jurisdiction. Panchkula police visited the spot after Golu went missing, but they could not trace him. The police did not act in a timely fashion in tracing Golu, said a relative of the boy.
The body was recovered on Monday from a pit which was dug for installing a tube well in the area.
The body was first shifted to General hospital for postmortem. As the body was in an advanced stage of decomposition they shifted it to a hospital in Rohtak, said a police officer at Sector 16 police post,Panchkula.
