The Delhi Metro began its trial run on the Gurgaon section on Friday. The trial run was flagged off from the HUDA City Centre Metro station by Union Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy and Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. With this,Delhi Metro has extended its network to the second satellite city of the national capital,after starting the service to Noida late last year.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has been asked to prepare a detailed project report for Metros extension in Haryanas Faridabad and Bahadurgarh.
Reddy said the government would consider projects to extend the Metro services wherever it was found feasible. Hooda said Metro feeder buses,to be run in the public-private partnership mode,would hit the roads soon,adding that he wanted the Metro to extend its services till Manesar. DMRC Managing Director E Sreedharan said the services from Gurgaon to Qutub would start in May while that till Central Secretariat in Delhi would have to wait till June first week.
