Maya rally today,brace for diversions

Anticipating a turnout of over 60,000 for Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawatis rally,the Chandigarh Police have designated specific routes for vehicles.

Anticipating a turnout of over 60,000 for Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawatis rally on Sunday,the Chandigarh Police have designated specific routes for vehicles coming in from other states.

Mayawatis convoy will reach the rally venue in Sector 25 from Hotel Taj via Sector 16,PGI,Sector 14/15 light point,and Sector 24/25 roundabout. Heavy vehicles entering the city from Haryana,UP and Patiala will be diverted from the Tribune roundabout towards the Faidan barrier. They will then be diverted from Sector 47 towards the small roundabout in Sector 38 (West),from where they will reach the rally ground.

Heavy vehicles from Jallandhar,Ludhiana and Ropar will be diverted from the Sector 39 grain market towards Dadumajra,and then to the small roundabout in Sector 38. They will be allowed to turn left into a parking spot for light vehicles.

Vehicles coming from the Panchkula side will be diverted to the newly constructed road near Hallomajra light point.

Police have allocated parking space for over 8,000 vehicles in the ground near the Gurdwara in Sector 38 (West). Over 1,500 policemen have been deployed for security,SSP,Traffic,H S Doon,said.

Police have also designated parking space for 150 vehicles in front of the Sector 38-D market,200 vehicles at the cremation ground,an equal number in front of the cremation ground,and 150 vehicles for VVIPs and the media near Chitkara Institute.
