The man who got Raka Ghirra,Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP),Mohali arrested in a corruption case has moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court alleging that senior politicians,bureaucrats and police officers of Punjab are pressurising him to withdraw the case against Gira and threatening him of dire consequences if he fails to do so. Raka Ghirra was booked by the CBI and placed under suspension.
Krishan Kumar Malhotra,resident of Mohali and the complainant against Ghirra,in the corruption case registered by the CBI,has alleged that he is apprehending threat to his and his familys life. He has alleged that politicians and senior police officials want to the grab his property.
Taking serious note of the apprehension raised by Krishan Kumar,Justice K Kannan has directed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP),Mohali to grant appropriate protection if the situation so warrants after Krishan moves a representation.
Justice Kannan has also asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to respond as to why investigation of four cases registered against Krishan Kumar by the Punjab Police have not been handed over to the CBI.
The Secretary of Department of Home and Justice,Director General of Police (DGP),Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP),Mohali and Pritam Singh,Incharge Economic Offencers Wing,Mohali have also been issued notices by the High Court.
Contending on behalf of Krishan Kumar his counsel,Advocate G K Mann submitted that Krishan Kumar owns a piece of land which a company wanted to purchase. The petitioner has named senior politicians of Punjab in the petition.
The petitioner has further submitted that he started receiving phone calls asking him to surrender his land and get the sale deed executed so that the company can run its project smoothly.
When the petitioner refused to sell the land in favour of the company,the petitioner started receiving threatening calls. In the purchase of this land,politicians,bureaucrats and senior police officials are involved with the company officials reads the petition.
The petitioner has added that when he refused to surrender before the bigwigs,he was called by the officers of Economic Offence Wing where he was forced to sign a blank agreement to sell.
I was forced to sign the blank paper in the presence of a senior Akali leader,(of Youth Akali Dal) and DSP Raka Ghirra only after which I was allowed to return to my house reads the petition filed by Krishan Kumar.
It has been further alleged that a false FIR was registered following which his wife and son were picked up by the officials of Economic Offence Wing. A day after Krishan Kumar moved a lower Court of Punjab seeking protection from the Punjab Police,it has been alleged,four false FIRs were registered against him.
Advocate G K Mann,counsel for the petitioner has further contended that he approached several senior police officials of Punjab Police for protection but to no avail.
The local police officers are working as dacoits and are making threatening calls to the petitioner. The petitioner has no faith in the Punjab police. Hence,the investigation of the cases registered against him shall be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) reads the petition.
