Man booked for suicide bid

A 25-year-old resident of Manimajra attempted suicide by setting himself afire here today. The police booked the victim,Nanhe,in a case of attempt to suicide under Section 309 of the IPC. He has been admitted in the Sector 16 Government Multi Specialty Hospital with 35 per cent burns.

The in charge of the Mauli Jagran police post,Inspector Gurmukh Singh,said the victim said in his statement that his distant relative had accused him of molesting their family member. He said he was unable to bear the allegations which were false and thus tried to end his life to avoid humiliation. The police said the preliminary investigations hinted that Nanhe was alone at home around 8 pm on Thursday when he allegedly set himself afire after dousing himself with kerosene.
