Taking note of the increasing theft cases,the Human Social Justice Panel (HSJP) on Saturday urged the Panchkula police to beef up security in the city.
The increasing theft cases should be curbed. The police should deploy more policemen and more PCR( Police Control Room) vehicles in the city, said IPS Anand,former president and advisor of the panel,at a function here.
Some years back,the police were to train the security guards of all the sectors,but the plan was later scrapped, he added,while speaking on the occasion of the 6th Raising Day of the HSJP,organised in coordination with the Panchlkula police.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Ashwin Shenvi,however,said The police is duty-bound for the safety of the citizens and is taking adequate measures in this regard. As far the training of the guards is concerned,the programme had to abandoned due to the non-cooperation of certain resident welfare associations.
Talking about the crimes against women,Rajbir Deswal,Commissioner of Police said,Police is striving to cater better to women against whom crimes are committed. There has been increase in the number of women in the force. Also,after Sonepat,plans to open a women police station in Panchkula are in the pipeline.
