The district police have questioned over 30 people, including the family of DSP Balraj Singh Gill who was found murdered along with one Monica Kapila for the double murders that took place at a farmhouse near Golf Links Colony on the city outskirts on February 2.
We are working on numerous theories like contract killing, honour killing, personal or professional rivalries. We have questioned a large number of people including the families of both the DSP and the woman. This is a very high profile and prestigious case for we have lost one of our own and cannot leave anything to chance, said DCP Ashish Chaudhry.
Asked about Gills fathers allegation that the woman angle has been planted just to defame the deceased officer,Chaudhry said: Why should we do that? There was a woman at this farmhouse and her dead body was found there. Above all,why will we malign one of our own officers? We do not want to hurt the family in any way but solving this case and getting the guilty behind the bars is our top most priority, said Chaudhry.
Despite numerous teams being dispatched to various places, the police are yet to trace the Innova car which Monica had driven to the farmhouse and the Optra Chervolet that the DSP was driving.
Meanwhile, with the honour killing angle taking a back seat, the police is learnt to be working on angles like contract killing and burglary.
The womans husband has told the police that he did not have any kind of marital discord with Monica. The Kapilas live in a joint family and other family members too had corroborated this fact. The police are now looking for supari killers and gangs who indulge in such murders. They have even questioned people who could be involved in contract murders. At the same time, gangsters in jail are also being questioned, said a source.
