Love,Actually

A hot cup of coffee, conversation and the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

Filmmaker Kabir Sadanand’s latest venture,Tum Milo Toh Sahi, deals with the one emotion that makes the world go round

A hot cup of coffee, conversation and the beginning of a beautiful relationship. A lot like love, isn’t it? But Kabir Sadanand,in town to promote his upcoming film,Tum Milo Toh Sahi, simply refuses to tell us the story behind that particular mug,the one right there on his film poster, piping hot with clouds of steam. The film is slated to release on April 2.

“You have to watch the film for that,” he says, smiling. All he is willing to divulge is that the movie is set in modern-day Mumbai, and it weaves together the lives of three couples who connect with each other through a series of touching and hilarious moments, sometimes just over a simple cup of coffee. “The film explores love at different ages,” says the actor-turned-director. “It was a heart racing moment when I saw my wife for the first time, and it was a whole new overwhelming emotion when I held my daughter in my arms for the first time. That’s when I realised, love can happen anytime, anywhere,” he says.

With Nana Patekar,Dimple Kapadia,Anjana Sukhani,Vidya Malvade,Suniel Shetty and Rehan Khan starring in the movie,Sadanand has managed to put an impressive cast together. “The failure of my first film,Popcorn Khao Mast Ho Jao,taught me how to approach a film. It taught me important lessons like making crisp edit cuts, focusing on the script, picking the right actors and being convinced about the product.” Sadanand says he has given it his best shot, going over as many as 16 drafts of the script, before he settled for the best of the lot. “Filmmaking is not a right,it’s a privilege and I misused it the first time. I can’t take it for granted now,” he says.
