After a flawless performance in the FEI Children’s International Jumping Competition,11-year-old city rider Gursobha Singh,a student of Yadavindra Public School,Mohali has done the city proud by winning two individual gold medals and two silvers medals in the team event in the recently concluded Junior National Equestrian Championship held at Nicholson Ranges,New Delhi . The championship was organised by the 61st Cavalry (B Squadron) in collaboration with the Equestrian Federation of India.

The 11-year-old youngster from Mohali won two individual gold medals in the ‘Accumulator’ and ‘Show Jumping ( Normal ) events besides winning silver medal each in ‘Dressage’ and ‘Show jumping’ events. “The national championship gave me a chance to showcase my skill on a wider scale and it was a good way to prepare ahead of the season ahead. Most of the top ranked junior riders took part in the event and it was a great experience winning the top spot in the accumulator and show jumping events,” said the young rider. Equestrian clubs and academies from all over the country took part in the event and the young rider also did well in the team events. “The team events are almost same but one has to coordinate well with the partner to score more and more points. We did well in the dressage event and I was satisfied with my performance in the championship,” said Singh. The youngster has been practicing under his coach Jatinderjit Singh and has also been training under Col. Sarpratap Singh. The youngster has been participating in national events since the age of seven years and was trained earlier by his father Kamalbir Dhindsa.
