Young professionals and students come together to teach the less privileged
In their effort to make a difference,a team of young professionals and students are reaching out to the underprivileged. The initiative is part of the Inspire A Life programme, which provides for one-to-one mentorship and training for underprivileged children to make them self-reliant. We have volunteers from different walks of life and we let them teach what they are good at, says Rahul Gupta, president,Global Environment Concern,a non-governmental organisation, adding that the skills learnt will help get jobs . The program will run every Saturday in the evening for a couple of hours. We have delegated a group of 40 youngsters to teach different art forms, says Arunesh Moudgil,a BCA student at SD College, adding that dance, music, painting, guitar, classical dance, computers, singing and karate are some of the things that they teach. As of now,we have adopted Smiles School,Industrial Area but we are looking at more schools to expand the reach, says Isha Jalan,a student of MCM College.
It gives us a chance to enjoy and share what we have,be humane and understand the workings of the society better, says Saurabh Raj,a chartered accountant, who is already planning to put up an exhibition of the childrens works and a performance to showcase their talent. If you want to join them in the endeavour, you can contact them at Smiles School,Industrial Area, from August 11 to 20 between 6 to 7 pm.
