Work remained suspended in courts on Monday as lawyers protested against the killing of an advocate in Fatehabad area of Haryana few days back. Most of the cases remained adjourned in the court due to the suspension of work.

President of Panchkula District Court Bar Association,Ved Mahajan Gupta,said that the lawyers protested against the inaction by police in the lawyer killing case. “Police have failed to take any action in the matter and despite the fact that the seriousness of the crime it has not been able to arrest anybody,” he said. He said the Bar Association decided to protest the police inaction,adding,however,the court will function normally on Tuesday.

Lawyers sat on a protest on the entrance of the court complex. Advocate Amandeep Bindra,said that the murder was gruesome and police should ensure that justice is done in the case.

In most of the courts cases were adjourned as the lawyers didn’t appear in the courts. Advocate Janinder Chandel,said,“All the cases which were listed for the day got adjourned.”

On Saturday,a lawyer was murdered in broad daylight in Haryana’s Fatehabad town during a government auction of a piece of disputed land. The lawyer was reportedly attacked with swords and other sharp-edged weapons by a group of people at the Fatehabad panchayat bhawan. The victim bled to death even as the assailants escaped from the spot.
