Despite being bowled out for 179 runs,Ludhiana took the crucial first innings lead of 111 runs against Patiala on the third day of ongoing Punjab Inter-District Cricket Tournament for Katcoh Shield at the Dhruv Pandove Stadium in Patiala. The hosts were bowled out for mere 68 runs in their first innings by Ludhiana. Their first innings was a total contrast to their second innings,as they were 250 for one at the end of day’s play. Once again,left-arm spinner Rajwinder Singh shone with the ball and scalped six wickets for Patiala and restricted Ludhiana to 179 runs. For Ludhiana,Bharat Malhotra (39 no) and Deepak Bansal (27) were the main scorers.
In the second innings,Patiala batsmen looked in complete control against Ludhiana bowlers. Kunwar Raina (105 no) and Preetkamal (106 no) hit centuries each and were unbeaten at the close of the days play.

Manan misses out on century
In the second match being played at YPS Mohali between Mohali and Chandigarh,Mohali resumed from their overnight score of 246 for 8 and were bowled out for 293 in 87.1 overs. Chandigarh lost two early wickets to be reduced to 29 for 2 in 7.5 overs.
Thereafter,opener Manan Vohra was joined by southpaw Uday Kaul and the duo started reconstructing the innings by hitting judicious strokes and good running between the wickets. It was Gurkirat Mann who broke the stand and removed Uday Kaul for 51 runs. Both Vohra and Kaul added valuable 130 runs for the third wicket. Manan was then sent packing by left-arm spinner Varun Khanna for 94 runs.
At close of days play,Jaskaran Sohi (42 no) and Gaurav Gambhir (22 no) were together at the crease with Chandigarh scoreboard reading 292 for 6.

Meanwhile,in the match between Jalandhar and Amritsar,Jalandhar resumed from their overnight score of 194 for 3 and were all out for 424 in 122 overs. For Jalandhar,Taruwar Kohli (161) and Himanshu Satyawan (116) emerged as stars.
For Amritsar,off-spinner Charanjit (3 for 144) and left-arm spinner Vinay Chaudhary (3 for 96) shared the spoils. At the close of day’s play,Amritsar were 67 for 2.
