Kingpin of highway robbers’ gang arrested after shootout in Mohali

Satpreet Singh alias Satti targeted vehicles on the Ambala-Dera Bassi highway and was involved in multiple armed robberies across Punjab and Haryana, according to police.

The Punjab police on Sunday arrested a wanted criminal after a shootout in the Lalru area of Mohali. Satpreet Singh alias Satti was injured after a bullet struck his leg during the exchange of fire. Police teams were on the spot till the filing of this report.

Satti was involved in highway robberies in Lalru, which is located on the Punjab-Haryana border.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav wrote on X, “The gang targeted vehicles on the Ambala-DeraBassi Highway and was involved in multiple armed robberies across Punjab & Haryana, including two late-night incidents on November 3 and 10, where cash, mobile phones, and gold ornaments were snatched at gunpoint. A .32 caliber pistol and 5 live cartridges were also recovered.”

The DGP further said two FIRs were registered and that investigations were underway to identify and arrest Satti’s associates.
