Khurana case: CBI submits CFSL reports,copy of witness statements

A special CBI Court has adjourned the case to April 2.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday submitted the CFSL reports,four DVDs containing the contents of spy cameras and memory card,and a copy of witness statements in connection with the bribery case against former Punjab chief parliamentary secretary Raj Khurana.

In the next hearing,the arguments on the documents submitted by the CBI and on framing of charges will be held. The case was adjourned due to the nationwide strike of the Bar Council of India. Along with the reports by the Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory (CFSL) and the DVDs,statements of former Punjab ministers Manoranjan Kalia and Swarna Ram have also been submitted.

The public prosecutor had submitted an application dated March 11,to put on record the CFSL reports dates February 20 along with sealed exhibits and to add named of prosecution witnesses on record. BJP MLA Raj Khurana,was arrested from Rajpura on May 5,2011. He was booked on charges of allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 1.5 crore for closing a complaint against an association of the state.

A complaint received from the secretary of an association alleging that an official of Registrar,Firms and Societies,Punjab,Devinder Singh has demanded bribe of Rs 1.5 crore for closing a complaint against the association without any action,official sources said.
