Justice Dev Darshan Sud,in his order on Wednesday, had held that the fast-track (trial) court had acted in haste and did not consider the gravity of the matter in passing the bail orders. He had directed the accused to surrender in Dharamsala court on Thursday.

A senior district police officer said accused Ajay Verma,Naveen Verma,Abhinav Verma and Mukul Sharma presented themselves before the additional sessions judge as the presiding officer,Purinder Vaidya, was on leave. The judge ordered them to be sent to judicial custody.

The trial court has already fixed day-to-day hearings for the case from August 2.

Welcoming the court’s order,Aman’s father Rajendra Kachroo said on Wednesday: “It is a good development. The message that had gone across the last time was incorrect and it has been rectified.”

Kachroo,19,a student of first year MBBS course at Dr Rajender Prasad Medical College,Tanda (Kangra),died last year after he was ragged and physically assaulted by the seniors for several hours.
