‘It will be Dutt Versus Dutta’

That’s what actor and Ludhiana Gullies cricket team owner Divya Dutta is looking forward to

She’s hit a few memorable shots, bowled decently too,and in the process shattered a few window panes. Divya Dutta prefers not to be one of those people who sit in VIP air-conditioned lounges, dripping in diamonds and cheering for teams over a bubbling glass of champagne. She’d rather step into the field and be an active part of the game. “That is the point of being a team player,” says the proud owner of T-10’s Ludhiana Gullies who flocked to town with her young cricketers, unveiled the team jerseys and sent out an invite for T-10 matches (part of the T-10 Gully Cricket Series) from March 3 to 7. “These will be all-night tourneys and will be telecast on DD,” she added.

While Ritiesh Deshmukh is the brand ambassador of the initiative, other team owners include actors Jimmy Sheirgill,Prachi Desai and Rajpal Yadav. “But we are concerned with Sanjay Dutt’s Surat Gullies. It will be Dutt versus Dutta,” says the sporty actress. “Cricket and Bollywood —two glamourous fields with glamourous connections,so why not be a part of it. It’s as old as Sharmila and Pataudi!” she laughs. “I’ve never followed rules. Tomorrow if hockey needs me,I’ll be there,” she says.

As for her career in Bollywood, she is excited about her upcoming projects, particularly the three English ones: Heart Land,Hiss and another that starts in April. “Apart from these, there is Subhash Ghai’s Hello Darling and a children’s film with Amol Gupte,” she signs off.
